Katzke Safaris has sound and long-standing relationships with major concession holders in Zimbabwe that provide us access to top hunting areas where we are confident that our clients have the best chance of success, and where the lodgings, meals and support services all meet with our high standards.
Matetsi Safari Area situated in North Western Zimbabwe, close to the world famous Victoria Falls, is Zimbabwe's oldest and best known hunting Safari area. The game rich Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe's largest, totalling some 13,000 square kilometres, together with Matetsi Safari Area, Kazuma National Park, Zambezi National Park and Pandamasui Forest area all combine to form one of Africa's largest unspoilt wilderness areas, over 20,000 square km in extent. The hunting terrain consists mainly of rolling hills, covered with Mopane woodland, natural forest and interspersed by a few flat valleys.
Matetsi consistently produces large elephant and averages over 50 pounds a side each season, whilst buffalo and lion are numerous and supports a healthy population of both species.
Matetsi is famous for producing world class Sable and Waterbuck. Other species in abundance are Kudu, Zebra, Giraffe, Impala, Hyena and Warthog.
In addition to the 'Big Game' hunting, guests can also take a day off to enjoy an afternoon of superb bird shooting, particularly - guineafowl, francolin and sandgrouse. The camp is only an hour’s drive from Victoria Falls, making access to the area and camp easy for clients. No charters are necessary! The rustic, though, luxurious camp and abundant wildlife makes it an attraction to hunters and non-hunters alike.
